| How to Volunteer |
|
Volunteering at Dans la rue is easy. We give you all the information and training you need and you'll have your choice of interesting and challenging assignments, from working on the Van or cooking in the kitchen, to helping out in the Depot and many other tasks. Our Volunteers come from every walk of life and range from 19 to 75 years of age. Every one of our volunteers has something different to offer to help Dans la rue, but they all have one thing in common: they all work towards fulfilling our mission with service, respect and friendship. IndividualsEvery new volunteer starts by attending a volunteer orientation session. For dates see the sidebar or check the calendar on the homepage, then contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to sign up. During this session we'll discuss the organization, how we work and the ethical code volunteers are expected to live up to. The group session is followed by one-on-one meetings with the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss objectives and goals for volunteering. Minimum age for volunteering is 18 and in all cases a police check will be done before volunteers can join the team. Dans la rue is very fortunate to have the support of the community and to have all the volunteers it presently needs to run its programs and services. Please note that we are currently working on developing new volunteer opportunities and so will not be offering orientation sessions until next fall. By then, we will have new volunteer positions available. Please be sure to check our website again in September to see if you can help us! GroupsWould you like to make a difference, but just can't commit due to family and work demands? We understand! Dans la rue has created some interesting projects that are tailored to allow folks like you to help out. There are a number of one-time group opportunities: some are on site, while others can take place right in your community. You can participate in a Cookie Nite, work in our warehouse for a day, help prepare food bags or assist with spring clean-up. These are just a few of the projects which volunteer groups have participated in in the past. Remember to check our website again in September for new volunteer group activities.
